Small World?
Is it a small world after all?
This website is dedicated to researching the small world phenomenon. The first question to ask is of cource, what is the small world phenomenon?
Small world phenomenon
The small world phenomenon is a hypothesis which sugests that every person is conected to every other person by a small number of links. In other words, Mary from Florida, and Rachel from Israel, can be linked through friends of friends even though they've never heard of one another. Something called the "Small World Experiment" was performed by a scientist named Stanley Milgram. This experiment sugested that two random U.S. citezens are conected by an average of six people, or links, hence the term "Six degrees of seperation."
My desire is to conduct a new small world experiment, much larger than the first. This would span not one country, but many. I want to attempt to see how many links there are between two random people in the world. This project will be called the "Human Link Experiment". For more information on this projeect, feel free to browse the rest of this website, and e-mail me with any questions you have.
